Thea Schrack recently shifted her focus of over 20 years from hand-colored photography to Encaustic Wax Painting. Thea’s new love is similar to her past in that it maintains, but masks reality to create a mystical impression. By exploring an ancient art form, originating with the Egyptians, Schrack seems to have discovered a means by which to make her landscapes even more luminescent.  Encaustic wax painting presents a difficult medium with which to work (hot beeswax), but results in a textural depth and richness that is unmatched. Thea’s encaustic pieces were featured in 5 Gallery shows across the country in 2005.  She continues to work with numerous publishers and art consultants creating new editions and providing artistic works that enrich book covers, posters, cards and private galleries.
